After nearly a year since his last game, Carmelo Anthony is expected to make his return to court on Tuesday, when the Portland Trail Blazers take on the New Orleans Pelicans inside the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans.
The Blazers announced the signing of the veteran forward this morning by Portland president of basketball operations, Neil Olshey.
Anthony’s last NBA game came in a 98-80 loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder, where he recorded a career-low two points shooting 1-for-11 from the floor, 0-for-6 from 3-point attempts, as a member of the Houston Rockets.
Just days after the distressing performance, the Rockets waived Anthony after 10 games into the season. During his short stay, he averaged 13.4 points and 5.4 rebounds per game.
Entering his 17th season, Anthony, who will wear No. 00 for the Trail Blazers has become one of the most prolific scores in NBA history. He has recorded a total of 25551 for a career average of 24.0 points, which places him fourth in career points per game, and he has the second-most career points among active players, trailing only LeBron James.
