NBA: Zion Williamson expected to miss 6-8 weeks following Knee surgery

The New Orleans Pelicans announced on Monday that rookie sensation, Zion Williamson will miss 6-8 weeks of the regular season after having surgery on his right knee to repair a torn meniscus, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

The news of Williamson’s surgery comes a few days after it was announced that he was expected to miss the start of the season. The injury occurred last week after Williamson suffered an injury during the Pelicans’ 123-114 win over the San Antonio Spurs.

The Pelicans No. 1 overall pick has experienced knee issues in the past during his one-year stint with the Duke Blue Devils last season, after Williamson suffered a mild injury against the North Carolina Tar Heels that kept him out for six games.

Williamson, 19, had a stellar preseason averaging 23.3 points on 71.4% shooting from the field and grabbing 6.5 rebounds in four games.
