In his first official day as president of basketball operations for the New Orleans Pelicans, David Griffin provided some news that may delight basketball fans in New Orleans. In his press conference on Wednesday, Griffin said he believes that Anthony Davis is “open to staying” with the organization after speaking with agent Rich Paul, according to The Athletic’s Will Guillory.
Although he is optimistic that Davis will reconsider his trade request, Griffin has yet to speak with the six-time all-star on the possibility of remaining with the Pelicans.
Griffin was hired by New Orleans on April 12. He worked in Cleveland from 2010-17, working as the Cavs GM from 2014-17. Griffin parted ways with the organization in June 2017.
