After leading his team to a 3-0 record, Houston Rockets star guard James Harden is named NBA’s Western Conference Player of the Week.

Slow but surely the Houston Rockets are returning to form and James Harden is leading the charge. The NBA’s 2018 Most Valuable Player was honored as the Western Conference Player of the Week, after posting a pair of triple-doubles in the Rockets’ 3-0 week.

As a result of their early season struggles, this is Harden’s first Player of the Week nod, and the 19th of his career, all as a member of the Rockets. The Bearded One averaged a ridiculous 37.0 points, 8.3 assists, 7.7 rebounds, and 1.7 steals, while shooting 54.1 percent from the field and 39.3 percent from 3-point range.

In their win over the Los Angeles Lakers Thursday Night, Harden dropped a 50-point triple-double with 11 assists and 10 rebounds. His performance against the Lakers was his fourth 50-point triple-double of his career, which is an NBA record.

After winning the honor, Harden and the Rockets returned to the court in a Monday night showdown against their longtime rival, the Utah Jazz. And after leading the Rockets to a 102-97 victory with 47 points and six assists, it is safe to say that Harden may repeat Player of the Week in the next seven days.

The reigning MVP shared the honor with Thaddeus Young of the Indiana Pacers, who was named the Eastern Conference Player of the Week.
