Texans survive Redskins

Alright, alright, alright.

I know we didn’t see any smoke during the game, nor was it a blowout, but like I have said numerous times this season:

A WIN IS A WIN!

The Texans have made history today, winning their seventh straight game after starting the season 0-3. They are currently tied for most in NFL history.

Today’s 23-21 win over the Redskins was nothing short of a heart attack waiting to occur, but luckily it never came. It wasn’t a pretty win at all! If I’m being honest, the Redskins let us off the hook numerous times during the game. Wide open dropped passes, dropped picks, bad penalties, you name it. For the most part, the Texans were bad, especially in the second half. The key was, they weren’t as bad as the Redskins.

For the second game in a row, the opponent had a great opportunity of ending the Texans win streak. Both times the opponent drove down the field in the last minute of the fourth quarter to get in field goal range. Luckily for the Texans, both kickers choked the opportunity of ending their win streak. Sad, I know, but if you were to ask anyone on the Texans, I’m sure they say to you:

Anyhow, here’s are my heroes and zeroes of week 11’s win

Justin Reid

Justin Reid has to go first on my hero list due to his clutchness! He made the play of the game with his 101 yard pick-6. That play was a potential 14-point swing! With the Redskins being in our red zone with an opportunity to score atleast a FG, Reid was able to not only take points away from their offense, but put points on the board for his team. The Texans don’t win the game if not for that play, so kudos to Justin Reid for being my Hero of the Week.

Keke Coutee

Keke Coutee is a bad man when he is able to play for the Texans. He had 4 receptions for 77 yards today. Being that Will Fuller is done for the season, Coutee was able to help Deandre Hopkins out today and take some attention away from him. Let’s see if he can continue to build some momentum and continue to be the slot WR the Texans have been looking for!

Deandre Hopkins

Speaking of the GOAT himself, it’s only right to include Deandre “Best WR in the Game” Hopkins! Let’s start off by mentioning this man tied a franchise record that he himself set! This GOAT caught a TD for the 5th consecutive game in a row. Hop also scored the only offensive TD of the game, so of course he is on the list. Add 5 catches for 56 yards to that TD he scored as well. Hop had a decent day!

J.J. Watt

If Justin James Watt doesn’t get the Comeback Player of the Year, the NFL is rigged! JJ secured a sack today vs. the Redskins, making it 10 sacks in 10 games. For JJ to have had such horrible luck these past two seasons, this season shows you the type of man that JJ is. People thought that he was washed after a second season-ending injury, but he proved every one wrong with yet another double-digit sack season!

Now that the Heroes are out the way, let’s get to talking about these Zeroes!

Jadeveon Clowney

Ok sure, Clowney got a sack, but he has had one of the worst performances of recent memory today. He was massively undisciplined, blowing assignments and continuously jumping offsides. During one Redskins drive, he failed to set the edge twice, leading to a QB keeper to convert a 4th down and another one leading to Adrian Peterson bouncing out to the edge to score a TD. Clowney is one of the most disruptive forces in the NFL, but he has got to learn how to be more disciplined. It almost cost us the game today.

The Texans Offensive Line

I was hoping to never put this group on this list again, but it must be done after this performance. I’m not going to roast the Texans offensive line too hard. After all, they were without their starting LG and RG. However, It was as if Watson was running for his life and getting hit for most of the second half. The immense pressure led to two turnovers, letting the Redskins back in the game. The line’s performance was Buffalo Bills bad, but it was one worth putting them on the Zeroes list.

Shareece Wright

I am sick and tired of the Texans cornerbacks lining up 20 yards off the WR’s and letting them get easy yards for most of the game. Shareece Wright is simply not a good corner. He was the whipping boy of the secondary today. He was even lucky to not have been beat deep for most of the game. I am waiting for Aaron Colvin to return so we can bench Wright.

That’s all that I have for today folks. It’s hard to critique a team who has been winning so much like the Texans. Hopefully there will be no almost heart attacks next week when the Texans play Tennessee at home. Be sure to get in the comment section to argue with me or even agree with me. Until next time!
