On Tuesday afternoon, the basketball world was full of excitement after rumors of Kobe Bryant returning to the court to continue his pro-basketball career.

Since dropping 60-points in his final NBA game in 2016, there has been countless of rumors surrounding Kobe Bryant and his return to the game of basketball one way or another.

And after signing LeBron James, one of the biggest rumors of the summer involved speculations that Bryant, the greatest player in franchise history, was considering returning to the Los Angeles Lakers to play with LeBron.

However, once his wife, Vanessa Bryant, shut down rumors of a Lakers comeback, the dream of watching Bryant and James take the court together for the purple and gold quickly deceased.

While Mrs. Bryant may have ended speculations about a potential comeback with the Lakers, there has been a new possibility of the Black Mamba returning to the court to continue his pro-basketball career.

According to Yahoo Sports, Ben Rohrback, BIG 3 co-founder Ice Cube, and co-CEO Jeff Kawtinetz suggested that the five-time NBA champion may consider joining the Big 3 league next year.

Cube: “We have a list of people that we would love to see, I think the fans would love to see. The fans would love to see Kobe, Tim Duncan, Kevin Garnett, and Paul Pierce. Anybody who still has the passion to play. We don’t want you if you don’t have the passion to play. If Kobe doesn’t have the passion to play at this level, then it’s better for him to watch on tv. If he has the passion, then here we are.”

Kwatinetz: “I did hear from a credible source that Kobe is going to be playing next year. That’s something, but it may be nothing.”

Cube: “That would be amazing.”

Before the rumor could pick up momentum and fans started the countdown to the 2019 season, within an hour of the report, Kobe Inc. chief marketing officer Molly Carter shot down any hope of seeing Bryant in a Ball Hogs uniform next year, according to Brian Mahoney of the Associated Press.

So there you have it, another rumor of Kobe Bryant returning to court, another rumor quickly deceased. Unless it’s his hit ESPN Show, Detail, the 2019 season will not involve a return from the Black Mamba in no way shape or form.
