NBA free agent Isaiah Thomas agrees to a one-year minimum with the Denver Nuggets.

After a brief stint with the Los Angeles Lakers, two-time NBA-All Star, Isaiah Thomas, is on the move again. According to ESPN‘s Adrian Wojnarowski, Thomas has agreed to a one-year deal to sign with the Denver Nuggets

After rising to superstar status with the Boston Celtics, injuries and friction with teammates have derailed Thomas’ career this past season. Despite finishing in the top-five in MVP votes a year ago, this would be Thomas’ fourth team in less than a year.

Although a year-one deal seems unfair to a player who was once a potential max player, the Nuggets are a great fit to get IT’s career back on track. If Thomas can put his ego aside, he can help fulfill Denver’s weakest position at point guard and reclaim his status as one of the league’s best point guards.

Since Ty Lawson departure in 2015, the Nuggets have yet to fill the void that was left behind. This past season, second-year guard Jamal Murray took over the role as the primary point guard once their experiment with Emmanuel Mudiay failed.

Thomas would place Murry back to his original position where he was most efficient as Denver’s starting shooting guard. In addition to fulfilling an open void, Thomas can also be Denver’s go-to player down the stretch, which cost them a playoff birth this season.

Thomas appeared in 32 games last season as a member of the Lakers and Cleveland Cavaliers where he averaged 15.8 points and 4.8 assists while shooting 37.3 percent from the field.
